Learning Music

Research has repeatedly shown that musical experience can enhance cognitive ability and executive function in the brain. There is evidence that musical training can help older people maintain their mental acuity. But the benefits of musical training and practice go beyond medical standards of mental well-being to qualities that are more difficult to quantify, such as discipline, self-confidence, and self-satisfaction. Music also transcends culture and language, and facilitates the expression of ideas and emotions that may elude words.
